Objective / Purpose of the Department
The purpose of the Group is to provide global materials and event management support to the customer. Support that is provided includes value-added materials management, event management and domestic managed transportation services. This group also updates various CEVA and Customer systems.
Objective / Purpose of the Job
The Operations Manager will coordinate and professionally manage the continuous improvement of the contract. The Operations Manager will also provide managerial leadership to Supervisors and direction to the organization to meet customer goals and expectations in support of the companies' policies and the objectives of the General Manager. This position ensures productivity levels are reached in an effective and efficient manner, maintains quality performance objectives, and assists in cost control programs. This position also monitors operational progress, customer relations, manages the training, Continuous improvements and grow the business.
Dimensions and Quantities
This position is responsible for the movement of the customers' material from the North American supply base to outbound warehouse, suppliers, and manufactures. This position is also responsible for looking for opportunities to improve the inbound movement of material from the suppliers, and manufactures to Warehouse.
Key Activities / Accountabilities
Network management integrity
Supervise PLC's and clerical staff
Responsible for Hiring Personnel
Responsible for inbound shipment monitoring and tracking
Supervise selected Logistic Providers performance and budgets.
Lean training and improvement
Administrating metrics with customer management
Develop and monitor KPI's and implement continuous improvement opportunities
Ensure clerical and supervisory staff adheres to established work standards and work processes
Systems, Data integrity and maintenance management
Responsible for training the operations workforce and the customer for improvements
Regularly communicate with customer personnel
Implement changes to processes or procedures
Responsible for looking for new business opportunities.
Track transportation performance
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with a plus for Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management
Preferred Experience and Knowledge (number of years, type of experience)
2 plus years management experience in Transportation, Logistics, Warehouse, Cross-dock or International Supply-Chain Management.
Advance in Excel
Advanced understanding of Supply Chain Management concepts and logistics processes
Necessary Technical / Functional Skills
Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Power Point, Word, Access and Excel
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Highly developed written, verbal, and inter-personal skills to manage and motivate workforce and others
Knowledge of warehouse management and/or transportation management systems
High degree of logic, initiative, self organization, and creativeness
