We have an immediate need for a Tank Product Development Engineer in our Lebanon, TN location
This position directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering product development projects related to pressure vessels and accessories to meet specific customer product requirements. Provides engineering support as well as product enhancements, participates in cost reduction activities in agreement with the stated goals listed in the engineering department's long-range plan.
Responsible for leading all aspects of tank product development.
Plan and implement engineering programs using the Project Management System as guide to achieve the objectives of the project.
Liaison with all departmental contacts as required gaining input when needed and effectively communicating the status of project activity routinely through scheduled project reviews/reports.
Analyze product design and manufacturing processes for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications throughout the development phase.
Act as liaison between Lochinvar and respective external agencies.
Manages all UL issues for Custom High Power water heaters, including UL audits, addition or removal of components from UL file, resolution of findings during UL audit and UL approval of new products.
Ensure all products designed and manufactured by the tank facility meet or exceed all regulatory codes, jurisdictional bodies, industry standards, and the Quality Control Manual procedures.
Provide design support to customers and customer support personnel in evaluating needs related to pressure vessels, including, but is not limited to, sizing of product, determining opening locations, selecting proper control size, determining proper vessel lining, electrical requirements, etc.
Assist Quality Assurance with technical field returns/problems during ASME audits, and ensures that the tank facility Quality control manual procedures are being followed and records are up to date.
Interfaces with purchasing to obtain and verify inventory of component parts needed for the manufacture of custom products.
Work with purchasing, vendors and potential vendors to obtain samples and specifications required for the investigation and release of components.
Assist in controlling excess inventory of steel and component parts.
Participates in both long and short term product maintenance projects, codes/ standards and general technical support to Manufacturing, Engineering Marketing and Sales.
Provides assistance with technical information concerning manufacturing techniques, materials, properties, process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.
Perform competitive product analyses as required to help define opportunities for product development or improvement.
Supplies information, data, drawings and details to CAD department for preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
Participate in continuous improvement activities, cost reduction activities, and Field Evaluations.
Provide direct support and frequent product & project updates to the Plant Manager of Tank manufacturing.
Assist Marketing in assuring all Tank Product literature is accurate.
Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Bachelor's degree with a technical emphasis highly preferred
Must have 5
years of Product Development and Design experience.
Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in pressure vessel sizing and controls, interpreting military
specifications, reading mechanical drawings, and ASME/ASHRAE/ASPE standards.

Must possess prior experience in customer service
HVAC Industry experience preferred
Must have strong computer skills and MS Office- Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.
Knowledge of CAD is helpful.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal
with several abstract and concrete variables.
